Tata Power's 'Energy Club' makes its debut in the Silicon Valley of India
Launches its conservation campaign in 5 schools of Bengaluru
- Bengaluru, January 11, 2010

With the increasing demand for ENERGY, effective management and conservation of the same has become the need of the hour. Recognizing the immense value that schools and schoolchildren generate, Tata Power initiated a unique school outreach programme i.e. the ‘Tata Power Energy Club’.

Through this initiative, Tata Power believes in involving the youths, the decision makers of tomorrow, to play a vital role in not only propagating efficient usage of energy but also furthering the larger cause of educating the society. After the successful implementation of the programme in cities like Mumbai, New Delhi, Ahmedabad, Pune, Jamshedpur, Belgaum, Lonavla and Kolkata, the ‘Tata Power Energy Club’, made its maiden entry in Bengaluru city.

The programme has kick started with 5 schools in Bengaluru i.e. St. Ann's High School, Army School, St. Lourdes Public School, St. Aloysius and Ryan International School, wherein the students underwent training sessions and workshops focusing on methods and means of energy conservation. The company further intends to extend this campaign to the various colleges in the city, thereby attaining the desired target of sensitizing maximum citizens.

Speaking on the initiative Mr. Prasad R Menon, Managing Director, Tata Power said, ‘The enthusiastic response received from other cities is really heartening and going by this success, we are confident that the citizens of Bangalore will join us in our mission of ‘energy conservation’ and help us achieve our goal of sensitizing one million citizens by 2010. We are overwhelmed by the support and willingness shown by the schools in the city and believe that these students; the ambassadors of the cause, will spread the message further more in the years to come’.

Tata Power’s ‘Energy Conservation Programme’ introduced in various schools in the city, aim at creating maximum impact, to educate and create awareness amongst people on the effective management conservation of electricity in our everyday life.

In order to make the initiative a success, it is important that the people who train the young minds i.e. Principals and Heads of the educational institutions are also taken on board for their belief and support as they not only will encourage the young minds but play a supervisory role, monitor the program etc.
