Ahmednagar’s Ranjani village will soon have water availability for drinking and irrigation with the implementation of ‘Integrated Watershed Management Initiative’ with the collaborative efforts of Tata Power Community Development Trust (TPCDT) and NABARD at the Khandke - Supa Wind Farm Site.

The Initiative aims to cover 1,134 hectares of land over a period of four years. Initially, the capacity building phase covers 104.9 hectares. Bosco Grameen Vikas Kendra(BGVK) will be the implementing partner for this initiative. BGVK will facilitate the management of this initiative through Village Watershed Development Committee in Ranjani village.

Mr. Praveer Sinha, CEO & Managing Director, Tata Power said, “Supporting the local community through direct interventions is an essential part of Tata Power’s sustainability philosophy. We are extremely glad to collaborate with NABARD and hope to successfully implement this program for local farm economy resulting in marked improvements.  We are confident that this program will effectively bring about the much needed stability in the surrounding community’s livelihood and water security.”

Since its inception in 2016, TPCDT’s work has directly impacted 1,185 hectares and benefited around 1,123 families with adequate water for drinking and irrigation. Nagar taluka’s Ranjani has been one of the most drought prone areas of Ahmednagar to receive less than 500 mm rainfall in the last 3 years making it an ideal site for undertaking watershed program. Overall, TPCDT’s Watershed initiative has exponentially benefited many villages and will continue exploring more ways to maximize it.
