Initiatives

Tata Power has started various initiatives with the aim of benefiting these community groups. Some of the notable Affirmative Action initiatives are:

  • Rural BPO setup in Khopoli for training and providing employment to the local youth
  • ‘Block Excellence’ PRATHAM education initiative in Maithon (14000 children covered since 2009)
  • Sponsoring the education of tribal girl children in the Jawahar District of Maharashtra (Dedicated program for 600 Tribal girl children)
  • Computer Education Centre, under the Tribal Development Project of Maharashtra, in Vadeshwar (Students successfully completing the training are automatically considered for employment in the Rural BPO)
  • Football Academy for giving a sporting platform for talented children in Haldia
  • Livelihood Training in Tailoring for women in Odisha
  • A vocational training centre setup in Khopoli. Various trades like electrician, carpentry, horticulture, driving, tailoring, beautician course and comp training program are taught here.

Through these and many more initiatives, a concerted effort is made for making a positive difference and bettering the quality of lives in these communities.
