Enabling intelligent energy management at scale

Energy systems today are more connected than ever, yet less coordinated. With distributed assets, fluctuating demand and rising renewable integration, utilities and large Commercial and Industrial (C&I) enterprises are grappling with volatility and fragmented data across systems. What they need is not more visibility, but unified, real-time control.

At Tata Power, we are addressing this through EnerUni: an integrated, AI-powered platform that brings visibility, intelligence, and optimisation into one cohesive system.

One platform, unified control

EnerUni is an end-to-end Energy-as-a-Service (EaaS) platform that integrates the entire energy lifecycle (supply, demand, generation, trading, and analytics) into a single digital backbone. Developed in collaboration with Tata Consultancy Services, it replaces siloed systems with a connected interface where organisations can monitor and manage energy across locations seamlessly. Backed by IoT-enabled data, advanced dashboards, and AI/ML capabilities, the platform delivers real-time visibility, enables demand and generation forecasting, and optimises consumption through automated controls, making energy more predictable, manageable, and aligned with business performance.

Built on a flexible, service-led model, EnerUni eliminates the need for significant upfront investments while simplifying energy management. Its modular architecture allows organisations to scale capabilities across monitoring, portfolio optimisation, renewable integration, and power trading, aligned to evolving business needs.

Driving measurable impact

  • Up to 20% reduction in energy consumption
  • ~26% tariff savings through demand and time-of-day optimisation
  • Improved asset utilisation and overall operational efficiency
  • Real-time insights enabling faster, data-driven decision-making
  • Enhanced forecasting for better risk management and regulatory compliance
  • Integration of renewables, carbon tracking, and progress towards Net Zero goals

EnerUni enables organisations to operate with greater control, resilience, and efficiency, ensuring that energy is not just consumed, but intelligently managed.

Building consumer-centric energy systems through Energy Insights and Innovation Lab (EIIL)

Wind turbines and digital energy management

More than just deploying clean energy at scale, India’s energy transition is also about developing an understanding of how energy is consumed, how grids respond to changing demand patterns, and how data, behavioural insights, and digital intelligence together create more resilient, flexible, and consumer-centric energy systems.

The Energy Insights and Innovation Lab (EIIL) is advancing our vision. A first-of-its-kind collaboration, the Lab has been established in partnership with the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE) and the International Growth Centre (IGC), a global research centre based at LSE.

Leveraging research, data and operational scale

The Lab combines expertise in behavioural science, data analytics, energy systems modelling, and policy research with our operational scale and digital infrastructure.

As urbanisation, cooling demand, electric mobility, and digital infrastructure drive electricity demand growth, EIIL focuses on enabling cleaner, smarter, and more flexible energy systems while managing rising demand.

With our experience of serving over 13 million consumers, we provide the scale, smart meter and IoT-enabled infrastructure, and implementation capabilities needed to deploy scalable demand-side solutions. Supported by rigorous research and experimentation, EIIL strengthens demand-side management, grid resilience, and long-term decarbonisation.

The Lab is a differentiator, integrating research, digital infrastructure, and on-ground capabilities to translate insights into scalable solutions with measurable impact.

Augmenting demand-side intelligence

As renewable penetration increases and electricity systems become more dynamic, managing peak demand is becoming critical for grid reliability and affordability. Using analytics, behavioural insights, smart meter, and IoT data, EIIL conducts scalable demand-side pilots and real-time experimentation to improve system efficiency, consumer flexibility, and renewable energy integration. Through data-driven interventions and intelligent consumer engagement, EIIL is helping optimise electricity demand while enhancing customer participation in the energy ecosystem.

Supporting policy, tariff design and consumer-centric innovation

Through empirical analysis grounded in operational and consumer data, the Lab enables utilities and policymakers to better evaluate strategies related to affordability, energy equity, renewable integration and future electricity market design.

Beyond operational optimisation, EIIL is helping redefine the relationship between consumers and energy. Through behavioural insights and digital intelligence, the Lab is enabling more consumer-centric approaches ranging from tariff reduction strategies and flexible consumption programmes to value-added energy services and AI-enabled consumer intelligence applications.

Powering India’s future energy ecosystem

As India progresses towards its renewable energy and net-zero ambitions, platforms such as EIIL will be instrumental in shaping the future of energy systems. Tata Power is building a smarter and more adaptive energy ecosystem that strengthens reliability, customer engagement and India’s clean energy transition at scale.
