Maithon Power Ltd provides ‘Football’ coaching to 124 local tribal youth

Maithon Power Ltd. (MPL), a 74:26 joint venture between Tata Power & Damodar Valley Corporation (DVC), has been relentlessly working towards evolving new standards for the development of youths in the communities living in and around its operational areas. In line with this philosophy, MPL provides Football coaching to 124 local youth from the tribal community in MPL peripheral villages. Mihilal Marandi, a 16 year old highly passionate football enthusiast from Ratanpur, Dhanbad got selected for the U17 National Football Camp.

The objective of this initiative is to promote sportsmanship and provide rigorous training to the budding footballers. The company provides professional football coaching while encouraging them to lead a healthy lifestyle and practice discipline, punctuality, good communication skills, manners, teamwork, hard work, and setting goals for the future.

This initiative has provided a platform for them to display their sportsman skills. To further encourage them, MPL is offering long term coaching along with exposure to state and national level football coaching camps and tournaments. The youth are very passionate and are currently attending regular practice sessions under the guidance of an experienced National level coach.

Speaking further on this initiative, Mr. Ramesh Jha, CEO , MPL, said, “India has a vast pool of talented youths in sports who require proper technical and administrative support. Through this initiative, we aim to provide them the best opportunities so that they can compete at higher state as well as national levels and make a mark globally. MPL will continue to support such initiatives that create a level playing field for the youth of this country irrespective of their socio-economic conditions.”
