Tata Power Skill Development Institute (TPSDI) endeavours to empower and enhance the employability of people in and around Tata Power’s operational areas with industry-ready skills, especially in the power and allied sectors. TPSDI has five skilling hubs across India and its hub at Mundra in Gujarat trained 3372 people in the previous financial year from April 2018-March 2019.
The Government of India has set also an ambitious target of installing capacity of100 GW from solar and 60 GW from wind energy by 2022. With this focus on green and renewable energy, India will need well-trained personnel in the Solar and Wind Energy sectors. The institute also offers a variety of courses in Solar and Wind Energy that will skill people to work in the renewable energy sector.
TPSDI trains Tata Power employees, other organizations apart from those in the Tata Group, offers courses bridging academic knowledge and industry-demanded skills to engineering colleges and also trains unemployed youth. As a part of this broad mandate for the Institute, TPSDI-Mundra skilled around 3150 employees from Tata Power and 218 youth from engineering and diploma colleges and from ITIs.

TPSDI across its five training hubs, in Maharashtra, Gujarat, and Jharkhand has trained 16,483 people in FY19 across 119 courses. TPSDI also arranged for placements with various employers for 92% of its eligible trainees which is a testimony to the relevance of the Institute’s claim of training people in industry-ready and employable skills.

Tata Power is serving more than 2.6 million distribution consumers in India and has developed the country’s first 4000 MW Ultra Mega Power Project at Mundra (Gujarat) based on super-critical technology.
