Tata Power’s Powerlinks inaugurates a new Skill Development Centre at Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Kendra, Bareilly

~Trains and employs over 1000 students over last three years in collaboration with the Ministry of Skill Development~

Empowering rural women and youth in India has always been one of the key focus areas of Tata Power. In line with this philosophy, Tata Power’s Powerlinks Transmission Ltd, has inaugurated a new Skill Development Centre in Barielly, Uttar Pradesh. Modelled at the Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Kendra (PMKK), the centre will be focused on skill development & empowerment of women in rural/remote locations.

The inauguration event was graced by senior officials from Powerlinks Transmission Ltd. such as Mr.Yogesh Luthra, CEO, Ms. Diksha Singh, Group Head HR & CSR and Mr. C P Srivastav, Head O&M along with senior officials from partner organisation National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC).

The centre has been inaugurated as a part of Tata Power’s DAKSH programme - an employability initiative for women and youth in rural India.

Mr. Yogesh Luthra, Chief Executive Officer & ED, Powerlinks Transmission said, “The best way to empower women in rural India is to equip them with life skills, particularly vocational skills that will provide them economic independence. Over the last three years we have been able to successfully empower a lot of rural women/youth across our centres in UP, Bihar and West Bengal. We expect to continue building on our past successes with more such centres that will benefit the local community immensely.”

Powerlinks has been working for Skill Development of Youth in remote locations of line operation and has trained and employed over 1000 students from rural areas of Bihar, Uttar Pradesh and West Bengal over the past three years.
