Maithon Power Limited (MPL),
a joint venture between Tata Power and Damodar Valley Corporation,
has ranked third in plant load factor (PLF) among independent power producers (IPPs)
for the period April-December 2023, according to the Central Electricity Authority (CEA).
PLF serves as a metric for measuring the efficiency and performance
of a power plant. MPL has additionally attained the fourth position in
PLF for December 2023 among IPPs, showcasing its operational excellence
and leadership within the industry.
In December 2023,
MPL received commendation from the Eastern Region Load Despatch Centre
for its exceptional management of reactive power at its 1,050 MW Maithon plant.
This commendation is particularly noteworthy as it contributes to maintaining grid stability,
a crucial aspect, especially with the growing integration of renewable energy into the power system.
