26 Nov 2018

Tata Power, through its wholly-owned subsidiary, Coastal Gujarat Power Limited (CGPL), has relentlessly worked towards improving the social well-being and quality of life of the communities living in and around its operational areas. In line with this commitment, CGPL organized Health Camps in the working area  to extend primary healthcare at the doorstep of communities through its ‘Project Arogya’.

In 2018-19, Project Arogya addressed the healthcare measures by initiating four themes: 1) Mahila Arogya 2) Netra Raksha 3) Child Health 4) General health in partnership with Bhojay Sarvoday Trust.

Under its Mahila Arogya theme, CGPL organised  gynaecology camps in six villages through which it reached out to 772 villagers. Under its Netra Raksha theme, healthcare camps were organised in 19 villages where 50 patients were referred for cataract surgeries out of which 20 have been carried out till date. To address the issue of General Community Health, camps were organised in five villages which witnessed 263 patients being treated with nine cases being referred for further treatment at Bhojay Hospital.

Talking about the initiative, Mr. Ashok Sethi, COO & Executive Director, Tata Power, said, “Well-being of our community has always been at the heart of CGPL’s operations. By organising Health Camps through ‘Project Arogya’ we aim to provide a caring, supportive and healthy environment to children, families and others in our community. It gives us immense joy to see that our initiative has benefitted over 1570 community members. This only makes us strive harder to practice this philosophy in all areas of our operations”

Tata Power through its ‘Project Arogya’ aims to continue extending quality healthcare facilities to all the rural community members living in its outreach areas.
