Maithon Power Ltd inaugurates free football coaching for girls in Maithon, Jharkhand

Maithon Power Ltd. (MPL), a joint venture between Tata Power & Damodar Valley Corporation (DVC), has constantly strived to work towards the development of the country’s youth. To give momentum to these efforts, MPL inaugurated football coaching for girls at Poddardih Ground with an aim to provide access to sports and also promote participation. The event witnessed a participation of over 50 girls.

The objective of this program is to train girls who come from rural areas and economically weaker sections of the society. It has been designed to promote sportsmanship along with physical fitness, develop motor skills, and instil knowledge & understanding of rules, concepts, and strategies. It will also encourage these girls to play in teams and as individuals, enabling them to participate in internal and external football matches.

Speaking further on this initiative, Mr. Ramesh Jha, CEO, MPL, said, “Women in India are doing every bit to make a mark in sports however, most girls often lack exposure and equal opportunities. With this initiative, we aim to bridge this gap and create a level playing field for the youth of this country irrespective of their socio-economic conditions.”

The event was inaugurated in the presence of MD Faiz, Secretary, Dhanbad District Football Association, Mr. Subhankar Sarkar, Joint Secretary, Dhanbad District Football Association and Mr. Mritunjay Ray, CSR Head, MPL along with other dignitaries.
