CSR - Affirmative Action (AA) is one of the Tata Group's flagship program, wherein all Tata Group Companies work with SC/ ST communities.

Focus areas

Employability

Employability:

To date 2902 SHG members and 1172 youth trained in various employability trades ITI and nursing covered 65 youth.

Entrepreneurship

Entrepreneurship:

2094 farmers engaged in farm and non farm interventions at all locations and income enhanced by Rs.3000- 5000/pm.

1977 SHG members engaged in entrepreneurship earning additional income of Rs. 3000-3000 pm.

12% staff and 11% FDA employed in Tata Power until Sep'18.

TPSDI trained 2.26% of AA trainees until Sep'18.

6 AA youth joined Tata Motors after completion of apprenticeship.

Education and Essential Amenities

Education and Essential Amenities:

20,210 students covered in education interventions which improved their academic performance.

10% - 25% improvement in academics and 23% in attendance.

8455 students benefitted Scholarships.

Through Model village, covered 2500 HHs for socio economic development.

Jawhar - A Model Village

Working beyond our neighbourhood communities, Tata Power has also focussed to work for the most marginalised communities. Jawhar is a beyond-neighbourhood location which falls under our AA intervention.

We have partnered with the Government to work in this area for social economic upliftment since 2014. Jawhar is a tribal-dominated block with 106 villages having Katkari, Kokani and Warali Tribes. We have partnered with Kadachimate Village to:

  • Make it a Model village (100% Tribal communities with 130 families)
  • Develop one Sakur Ashramshala (Tribal Girls Residential School - 800 girls from 1st to 12th Std.),
  • Develop an ITI centre (450 students with 5 trades)
  • Work on Dhanoshi Panchayat, which is a behavioural change model to combat malnutrition (covers 5 villages for - 2000 families).
