A steady network expansion within the city with a focus on 11 clusters approved by MERC: Mira Road, Dahisar, Kurla LBS, Saki, Mindspace in Malad, Trombay, Mankhurd-Chembur, Vrindavan in Anushakti Nagar, Arogyanidhi in Andheri West, Vasant Utsav in Kandivali East, Malad BMC Lagoon has been taken up. Our efforts in these areas are focused on expanding our reach, and a strong distribution network connected to homes of our satisfied consumers. Tata Power has a customer base of over 6 lakh direct customers in Mumbai and on an average about 6,500 million units (MU) are sold in a year.

Ensuring Uninterrupted Power Supply

At the core of reliable power supply to the city is the unique 'Islanding System' pioneered by Tata Power, due to which the city of Mumbai has the advantage of assured uninterrupted reliable supply of power. In case of a grid failure, the Islanding System ensures uninterrupted power supply within the city limits. In case of a breakdown in the Western Regional Power Grid, Tata Power's system is automatically isolated from the rest of the grid. It ensures that our generating units continue to function. All essential services are assured continuity of power supply.

Delhi Distribution

The Company's partnership for distribution with the State Government of Delhi for its North Delhi customers, the Tata Power Delhi Distribution Limited (TPDDL), is the only success story of privatisation in India.

Since its formation in 2002, the company has launched a series of technological improvements for upgrading reliability and other customer services.

Tata Power Delhi Distribution Limited [Tata Power-DDL] is a joint venture between Tata Power and the Government of NCT of Delhi with the majority stake being held by Tata Power Company (51%).

Tata Power-DDL distributes electricity in North & North West parts of Delhi and serves a populace of 7 million. The company started operations on July 1, 2002 post the unbundling of the erstwhile Delhi Vidyut Board (DVB). With a registered consumer base of 1.64 million and a peak load of around 1852 MW (recorded in June 2017), the company's operations span across an area of 510 sq kms.

Distribution Franchise for Jamshedpur Circle

Subsequent to winning the bid for the Distribution Franchisee (DF) of Jamshedpur circle, a Special Purpose Company (SPC) 'TP Power Distribution Ltd.' has been formed and executed the Distribution Franchise Agreement (DFA) with Jharkhand State Electricity Board (JSEB).

Ajmer Distribution

Tata Power Delhi Distribution Limited, has signed a Distribution Franchisee Agreement (DFA) with Ajmer Vidyut Vitran Nigam Limited (AVVNL) to cater to the power requirements of customers in Ajmer.

  • Maintaining the distribution network area Ajmer City (including City Division - I & II)

To serve the purpose, Tata Power has formed a Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV) "TP Ajmer Distribution Limited" (TPADL), which will be responsible for operating and maintaining the distribution network in Ajmer City, which includes City Division-I and City Division-II areas. It will also be responsible for managing the billing and collections in the said areas.

TP Ajmer Distribution Limited will work closely with the existing employees of AVVNL, Government of Rajasthan, and its elected representatives, officials in electricity department as well as law enforcement agencies to serve customers with efficiency and ensure superior customer care that is synonymous with Tata Power.
