- Tender initiated for 100 MW/200 MWh Battery Energy Storage System Mumbai installation planned for TPC-Mumbai in the next 2 years.
- This distributed energy resource project will ensure uninterrupted power supply in Mumbai region in case of national or regional grid failure.
- This has advanced black start functionality which will enable swift recovery of power supply of critical infrastructure like hospitals, data centres, airports and Metro etc. in case of grid disturbance.
- The state of art technology will optimize reactive power management, improve demand curve, enhance efficiency of network, and strengthen the city power infrastructure.
- Has high ramp rate capability to meet sudden changes in load along with islanding capability to ensure grid stability.
- The decentralized BESS at 10 different locations near the load pocket will ensure lesser network losses, utilizing distributed energy resources.
- Purchase off-peak electricity at low prices for charging the storage system, so that stored energy can be used or sold at a later time when the price of purchased electricity is high. This will reduce the power purchase cost and hence, benefit customers in the long run.
- BESS will support capital expenditure deferral by minimizing infrastructure cost for meeting peak demand, promoting distributed energy resource India initiatives.
- This supports demand flexibility and enhanced sustainability.
