Sandeep Dhamija is the Chief Executive Officer of TP Ajmer Distribution Ltd. (TPADL), a Tata Power-led power distribution utility serving the city of Ajmer, Rajasthan. In his current role, he is leading the utility’s transformation agenda, with a focus on operational excellence, customer-centric innovation, digitalization, and the adoption of advanced technologies to enhance service reliability, efficiency, and sustainable growth.
With over two decades of experience in power distribution, utility modernization, and digital transformation, Sandeep has played a pivotal role in advancing electricity utilities through the strategic deployment of technology, digital platforms, and process innovation. His expertise spans smart metering, IT-OT integration, revenue management systems, enterprise digitization, smart grids, and large-scale transformation programs across Indian utilities, as well as international consulting engagements.
Prior to joining TPADL, Sandeep served as Chief Executive Officer of TP Power Plus Ltd. (TPPPL), a wholly owned subsidiary of Tata Power and the dedicated Advanced Metering Infrastructure Service Provider (AMISP) for Chhattisgarh State Power Distribution Company Limited (CSPDCL). Under his leadership, TPPPL successfully delivered one of India’s fastest smart metering programs under the Government of India’s Revamped Distribution Sector Scheme (RDSS), driving large-scale deployment of smart metering infrastructure across the Raipur distribution region.
During his tenure, TPPPL emerged as one of India’s leading AMISP organizations, deploying more than 1.40 million smart meters within two years. By leveraging advanced technologies such as Artificial Intelligence (AI), Machine Learning (ML), automation, advanced analytics, and digital operations, he established new benchmarks in execution excellence, operational efficiency, customer service, and revenue enhancement, helping create a more data-driven power distribution ecosystem.
Earlier, Sandeep served as Chief Technology Officer at Tata Power Southern Odisha Distribution Limited, where he established the technology organization and led the deployment of critical digital infrastructure. He also spearheaded global consulting and business development initiatives at Tata Power, overseeing smart grid implementations, IT/OT transformation programs, and strategic projects, including the acquisition and integration of Odisha’s power distribution utilities.
Throughout his professional journey, Sandeep has remained at the forefront of building digital utility ecosystems and driving innovation across the power sector. His leadership has consistently focused on leveraging technology to improve operational performance, customer experience, and long-term utility sustainability.
Sandeep holds a degree in Electrical Engineering and an MBA in Power Management. He is a frequent speaker at national and international industry forums, sharing insights on smart metering, digital utilities, energy transition, and power sector transformation. He is currently pursuing the Advanced Management Programme (Senior Leadership Development Programme – 2026–2027) at the Indian Institute of Management Ahmedabad (IIM Ahmedabad).
