Ludhiana, Punjab, August 3, 2026: Tata Power Renewable Energy Limited (TPREL), one of India's leading renewable energy companies and a subsidiary of Tata Power, today launched its 'Pay-as-you-Save' Rooftop Solar Scheme for Commercial & Industrial (C&I) consumers under its 'Sustainable Edge' initiative in Ludhiana, Punjab's industrial hub.
The innovative financing model enables businesses to adopt rooftop solar with zero upfront capital investment, allowing repayments through affordable monthly EMIs or lease rentals aligned with the estimated savings from solar power generation. By linking repayments to projected energy output, the scheme helps businesses improve cash flow while transitioning to clean and reliable energy.
Under the specially designed SunSmart Flexi EMI program, customers benefit from collateral-free financing, competitive interest rates, flexible repayment tenures and a fully digital approval process, making clean energy adoption faster, simpler and more accessible for enterprises of all sizes.
As part of this initiative, TPREL plans to install 200 MW of rooftop solar capacity across Punjab's C&I segment over the next three years, further strengthening the state's transition towards sustainable industrial growth.
Punjab, one of India's most industrialised states, is home to thriving sectors such as textiles, bicycle manufacturing, engineering goods, auto components, foundries, food processing and agricultural equipment. As industries face rising electricity costs, increasing global sustainability expectations and the need for greater operational efficiency, renewable energy is emerging as a strategic business imperative.
The Ludhiana edition of Sustainable Edge brought together industry leaders, business owners, energy experts and sustainability professionals to explore how rooftop solar, open access, group captive models and Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) can help industries optimise energy costs, improve energy resilience and accelerate decarbonisation.
During the event, Tata Power Renewables also showcased its Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) portfolio under the Tata Power Battery Storage brand, featuring advanced storage solutions ranging from 5 kWh to 50 MWh for residential and commercial applications.
For Commercial & Industrial consumers, the PowerHub portfolio offers scalable energy storage solutions across varying load requirements:
These solutions enable businesses to optimise energy usage, improve reliability, maximise renewable energy utilisation and support future-ready energy infrastructure.
Commenting on the launch, Dr. Praveer Sinha, CEO & MD, Tata Power, said: "At Tata Power, we are committed to making clean energy adoption simple, accessible and financially viable for businesses. Our 'Pay-as-you-Save' rooftop solar offering enables Punjab's industrial and commercial consumers to transition to renewable energy without any upfront investment while benefiting from predictable savings. Our plan to deploy 200 MW of rooftop solar capacity across the state over the next three years reflects our commitment to supporting industrial growth while advancing India's clean energy transition."
TPREL has already established a strong presence in Punjab with over 5,661 rooftop solar installations and a cumulative installed capacity of 169 MWp, reflecting the growing preference among businesses for reliable, cost-effective and sustainable energy solutions.
Across India, Tata Power Renewables has completed over 4,52,664 rooftop solar installations with a cumulative installed capacity exceeding 5.1 GWp, reinforcing its leadership in India's renewable energy sector. Through initiatives such as Sustainable Edge, the company continues to partner with businesses to accelerate renewable energy adoption and support India's decarbonisation and energy transition goals.
TPREL's end-to-end service model from customised system design and technology selection to installation, commissioning and lifecycle maintenance ensures a seamless customer experience.
